Picking The Perfect Gift Card
I LOVE a handwritten card. It’s such a thoughtful, kind gesture towards someone whether it’s for a birthday, a thank you or a simple hello. And who doesn’t love a card!? I personally keep a stash of them in a box so that I always have some to choose from, and a wide variety too; not just birthday cards but also cute thank you ones or neutral ones that could be used for any occasion.
But I can hear the question of, what if you don’t know what to say? How can you write something meaningful without it sounding too cheesy or corny? Well my friend, I love corn and cheese, so my biggest comeback is writing from the heart. Seriously. Write a card without over thinking it, and simply say what you feel towards that person. Gratitude for that person is always a good place to start; if they make you laugh, say that! If they are always kind to you and you want them to have the next best year of their lives… you guessed it, write that. Thanking them for their kindness or fun they bring in your life never goes unnoticed! Collect your thoughts and write something meaningful to the recipient, knowing that there isn’t a “wrong” way to write a card.
There are also a few things I really try to stick by (and where making the more ethical choice comes in)…
Australian Cards. Wherever possible I only buy cards made in Australia, as this is supporting our local designers and makers, and NOT supporting the pollution generated from air miles of getting cards over from other countries. I’m a big fan of Earth Greetings, as not only are they made here but they are also printed on 100% post consumer recycled card using vegetable inks! How cool! I’m a big fan of their designs, especially this birthday one.
Eco-friendly Cards. Even more awesome are the aussie made AND sustainably made cards. Recycled paper has a much smaller environmental footprint than paper manufactured from raw materials. Like Earth Greetings there are a lots of companies doing this, and Biome has lots to choose from! I also LOVE these adorable cards that come with seeds to plant!? Perfect for the green thumb friend or family member!
So get your card writing on! I’ve still got the awesome discount for Biome - $15 off when you spend $40 in one transaction. Code: YEEG18 (valid until 10/10, one use per person). Time to stock up on some cards (or some of their beaut stationary which I featured in my kicking goals post) x
