Seasonal Round Up: Spring
This last season has felt to me like it went in the blink of an eye. Isn’t this year just flying by? When you were at school it felt like the years just dragged on forever and you’d never get to senior school and these days? Shut your eyes for two seconds and you’re nearly thirty and everyone and their dog are asking you about babies. MATE, I’M ONLY 13!
But there are some definite highlights from the past few months that I’ve tied into my reflection, as well as some serious love for products that aren’t just in the beauty department this time round…
Beauty Bits (& Other Bobs)
Basil & Kale Pesto by Botanical Cuisine. This insanely delish pesto is made in Collingwood Melbourne; all of their products are organic and thoughtful and handmade and just taste the best!! I love their philosophy and I love being able to shop this locally. I had an issue with one of the beetroot dips and they were SO helpful and kind in resolving it. A guaranteed winner at your next dinner party.
Bronze Moon Cream Eyeshadow By Terry. This is such a lovely formula and can be lightly applied or built up for a cheeky smoky eye. Really easy to apply and use and I love this colour on me but I’ve also got my eye on the Misty Rock.
Post-Poo Drops by Aesop. Probably my favourite thing I’ve bought this season, this is a hilarious yet classy addition to your bathroom. Much less waste than reed diffusers and smells REAL nice, very citrus-y but without it taking over the whole apartment.
Botanical Sweet Orange & Almond Hand Wash by Thankyou. I don’t know why but I’ve been loving the citrus lately! I’m sure I’ve mentioned this brand before (yep I definitely did here) for it’s natural ingredients and all profits going towards helping developing countries… check them out if you haven’t already and THANK me later (too much!?).
Toner by Esse. If I’ve had an average night of sleeping or feeling a bit ‘meh’ I love spraying this on my face as a pick-me-up, any time of day really. If you didn’t already know I LOVE the ethos of this brand and you can check out my full review of them here.
Spring Reflection: Giving Yourself Permission
I have had some amazing opportunities these past few months and I have absolutely loved that they have come my way. But you know that tiny voice that’s like “do you really deserve it”… “it was probably an accident they let you do it”… whatever it may be, there is often that little voice making us question ourselves and feed us with self-doubt. We say no to ourselves before someone else says no to us. My challenge has definitely been learning to allow myself to go ‘yep cool I deserve to be doing this or to be here!’ We have to learn to say yes to ourselves, yes to doing the thing we want to do. And letting ourselves ask what we want!! This is your life after all, we make choices everyday that decide if or how we are shaping the life that we want. Let’s ask ourselves the bold questions, intentionally reflecting upon the answers that may return clearly, or may return at a later time in the form of a conversation with a friend, a moment in nature or as simple as in the washing of our hair. We have to acknowledge that we deserve to be where we are in this moment, that we have all, at different points in our lives, worked to get to this place and that there is nothing wrong with wanting something. “Clever is what we all can be when we pay careful attention to what is truly passing through consciousness.” - School of Life. We must trust ourselves and give ourselves permission to stay faithful to what we feel and believe, that it IS within our capacity to know and to be, wherever you are.
