Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

My Skin Saviour: The Little Company

My Skin Saviour: The Little Company

I used to think facials were too expensive, didn't work or a combination of both. But in hindsight I had been going to places that weren't taking a holistic approach to my skin, nor cared about the overall experience I was having. If you're going to be spending money on having skin treatments, you want them to work and you want to feel great afterwards right!? I've done a lot of researching and I've tried quite a few places - some have been ok, others not... and nowhere felt like "yep I want to come back here again". Until I stumbled upon The Little Company.

I haven't looked back. Where do I even begin about my love for this place!? Finally I have found somewhere that takes an integrative approach to skin, that uses non-invasive treatments and sustainable, ethical products - and creates an entire atmosphere, from walking in the door to out, of calm, relaxed, and serene vibes.

Facial treatments and taking care of your skin by seeing a specialist can seem daunting and overwhelming - particularly if like me you're skin can be sensitive or have great days and then some really bad ones. So I suppose I got to the point where I wanted help actually addressing my concerns but was adamant about it being done in as natural a way as possible, rather than through chemically-based treatments which I couldn't sustain myself and therefore cost me more in the long run. Laser and injectiony stuff ain't good for sensitive skins like me!

So I knew I'd come to the right place when instead of seeing posters advertising weird lip procedures, there were loads of plants, books about internal beauty and the power of herbs by Melbourne authors, and local lemon tea to help myself to. And then meeting Steph - what an absolute sweetheart! She really heard me out on my skin issues and was super warm and friendly, making me feel even more relaxed and repeat to myself for the thousandth time that I'd made the right decision coming here. I can confidently say that although my skin isn't perfect, after a year of frequenting here it has improved substantially - away from the constant redness and puffiness, now I only get pimples intermittently and only turn a tomato post running. They are never trying to force you to commit to weekly treatments or make you feel self conscious about your skincare routine. As Steph has always said to me, seasonal treatments are not only more maintainable, but also give you the time to be happy in your own skin and understand the very individual processes your skin needs.

I started off with "A Little Tailoring" - and this is the best facial in my opinion, because it gives your facialist the chance to examine your skin and personalise the entire process and product choices. I cannot put in words how relaxing it is being in one of their beds. It's like a cloud. And they stay with you for the WHOLE time!!! They don't walk out once they've popped a mask on you and you're left wondering if the tingling around your eyes is supposed to happen!! Instead you might get an arm massage, or a neck rub... and you can be as chatty or quiet as you wish - sometimes Steph and I have a good ol' yak, other times she is wonderfully intuitive at recognising I need to shut up and zen for a while, gently easing the conversation into silence. The LED light treatment is also perfect for extra chilled zoning out that leaves your skin all glowy and lovely.

The Little Company are genuine, caring people that have a very grounded and intelligent approach to skin - this is reflected in the products they use and in their treatment of the client. I go in knowing I have Steph's full attention and that I am supporting a company I completely believe in. I leave having learned something new about skin and so much more relaxed and amazing than when I walked in. Erry' time.

If you end up going here, let me know what you think! x
